Grammy-nominated artist Halsey is venturing into screenwriting with her new dark comedy series, Bloodlust, currently in development at Amazon Prime Video.
The multi-platinum singer-songwriter, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, serves as the creator, writer, and executive producer for the show. Renowned filmmaker Ti West (X, Pearl) is set to direct and co-executive produce, with Mark Friedman (Severance, Dispatches From Elsewhere) onboard as the showrunner and executive producer.
Amazon MGM Studios will produce the series, marking another significant milestone in Halsey’s career. Although specific plot details remain under wraps, the show has been in development for some time with Halsey, Friedman, and Anthony Li, Halsey’s manager, involved in its creation.
This project reunites Halsey and Ti West, who recently worked together on West's horror film MaXXXine, part of the acclaimed X series, where Halsey played Tabby Martin.
Halsey has also appeared in notable productions such as A Star Is Born, Roadies, Americana, and Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. Known for her chart-topping albums, including Badlands and Manic, Halsey is now expanding her creative footprint in the entertainment industry.
Ti West, celebrated for his unique approach to horror films such as The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers, brings his expertise to this promising project.
Bloodlust is anticipated to showcase a compelling blend of Halsey’s creative storytelling and West’s directorial prowess, offering a fresh addition to Amazon’s original programming lineup.
