The Karachi administration has imposed a ban on pillion riding in the South and Central districts of the city due to security concerns.

The notification, which was issued on December 10, also prohibits public gatherings, rallies, and processions in District South for the next two days.

In addition to the ban on pillion riding, restrictions have been placed on gatherings of more than five people in the affected areas.

The measures are part of a broader effort to prevent any potential disturbances to public order, with authorities citing security risks posed by miscreants in the region.

The decision follows a similar ban imposed in Karachi’s Central District on December 9. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code was invoked, restricting pillion riding, carrying arms, and other activities that could jeopardise the safety of residents.

Police also arrested 15 individuals on Monday for violating the pillion riding ban.
