Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Ahmad Bugti has approved the establishment of a new school in Uch, a remote area of the province, following a viral video message from a young girl.
The girl, identified as Meer Zadi, had posted a video message on social media, appealing to the CM for a school to be built in her area, Express News reported. The video quickly went viral, catching the attention of the provincial authorities.
Reacting to the widespread response, CM Bugti took immediate action, directing the relevant departments to initiate the process for establishing a girls’ school in Uch.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the Balochistan government, Shahid Rind, confirmed the approval of the project. "The Education Department has already begun working on the necessary procedures to commence the educational project in Uch," Rind said.
The decision to build a school in the area is expected to improve educational opportunities for girls, who have limited access to formal schooling in the region. Uch, known for its underdeveloped infrastructure, will see its first girls' school thanks to the viral appeal of Meer Zadi.
