Actor Barry Keoghan has spoken out against the hateful messages and harassment he has endured following his recent breakup with singer Sabrina Carpenter. The Saltburn star took to X on December 7 to explain his decision to deactivate his Instagram account, citing ongoing online abuse and the toll it has taken on his personal life.

Keoghan expressed frustration over false narratives being spread about him, stating, "My name is being dragged across the internet in ways I usually don't respond to." He described enduring "absolute lies, hatred, and disgusting commentary" about his character, appearance, and parenting. The harassment, which has included individuals intimidating his grandmother and his ex-partner Alyson Sandro—mother to their two-year-old son, Brando—prompted him to take action. Keoghan stressed his commitment to being a strong role model for his son, urging the public to consider the long-term impact of such negativity: "He has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older."

The harassment comes amid heightened speculation about Keoghan and Carpenter’s relationship. On December 3, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple had decided to "take a break" after a year together. Rumors of infidelity were dismissed by the same source, who described Keoghan as "always very faithful to her from the start."

Keoghan’s plea for respect highlights the emotional toll of public scrutiny, not just on himself but on his family. His message serves as a powerful reminder of the need for empathy and decency in the digital age, as he works to focus on his career and loved ones while navigating the challenges of fame.
