Australia dominated India in the second day-night Test in Adelaide, securing a comprehensive 10-wicket victory within three days to level the five-match series 1-1.
After dismissing India for just 175 runs, Australia required a mere 19 runs to win. The hosts reached the target without losing a wicket, sealing the victory with ease on Sunday.
India, resuming their second innings at 128-5, were quickly dismissed for 175, leaving Australia needing just 19 runs to win. The visitors endured a tough start as Rishabh Pant was dismissed in the first over, caught by Steve Smith off Mitchell Starc without adding to his overnight score of 28.
Pat Cummins made an immediate impact, removing Ravichandran Ashwin (7), who gloved a bouncer to wicketkeeper Alex Carey, and Harshit Rana (0) with another bouncer caught by Usman Khawaja at gully.
Allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy showed resilience with a knock of 42 before he was dismissed by Scott Boland, caught by Nathan McSweeney in the deep. Boland then removed Mohammed Siraj (7), securing the final wicket.
Cummins finished with figures of 5-57, while Boland took 3-51. Earlier in the match, Australia had dismissed India for 180 in the first innings, with Mitchell Starc taking six wickets. Travis Head’s blistering 140 helped Australia to a total of 337, giving them a commanding 157-run lead before they dismantled India’s top order on day two.
India had won the first Test in Perth by 295 runs, but Australia’s dominant performance in Adelaide has leveled the series heading into the third match.
