Aleema Khan, sister of incarcerated PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, has called for the formation of a JIT under the supervision of Supreme Court judges to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, demanding an immediate release of all detainees.
Speaking during a media interaction outside Adiala Jail, Aleema warned that if the demands were not met by Friday, a campaign of civil disobedience would begin, including a call for overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances.
She accused the state of engaging in "terror tactics" over the past two and a half years.
She further alleged that May 9 riots were orchestrated by "elements who even stole CCTV footage to conceal their actions, killed 16 people using snipers, and subjected women to unprecedented mistreatment".
"A system built on tyranny cannot last, even a system of disbelief can survive, but not one based on injustice," she said.
Lamenting the "destruction of democracy", she said democracy stood on three pillars of the judiciary, the legislature, and the media. 'All three have been dismantled."
