In what appears to be yet another cosmetic move to prevent digging of holes on the roads of Hydearabad, Deputy Commissioner Zainul Abedin has imposed a ban on road cutting. In a notification issued on Friday, the DC pointed out a recent instance in which some contractors of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited were digging a part of Autobahn Road to lay a fibre optic cable.
The DC underlined that the company did not obtain prior approval for the road cutting from the DC's office. "Hyderabad has faced severe deterioration of roads and buildings infrastructure in the aftermath of 2022 and 2024 monsoon rains and the existing infrastructure is in exigent need of maintenance and repair."
He stated that owing to such a situation, a complete ban on road digging is being imposed in the city.
