The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been activated to address challenges posed by the upcoming snowfall in Murree, equipping local administrative agencies with rescue and relief gear.
At a ceremony held at the Murree Deputy Commissioner's office, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia handed over trucks of equipment to the Murree administration. The event was attended by Rawalpindi Commissioner Aamer Khattak, Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, and officials from Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and other agencies.
The gear includes search-and-rescue jackets, tyre snow chains, mechanical saws, winter tents, raincoats, quilts, warm gloves, and other cold-weather essentials. Kathia emphasised the importance of preparedness to avoid tragedies like the 2022 snowfall incident, noting that 13 facilitation centres have been established for tourists.
Tourists are urged to check weather updates before visiting and contact PDMA's 24-hour helpline at 1129 in case of emergencies.
Meanwhile, an open kachehri was organised at the Patriata police station to listen to citizens' complaints and provide them with speedy justice.
Citizens participated in large numbers at the forum where ASP Murree personally listened to the problems of the citizens and issued orders to the officers concerned on the spot to resolve them immediately. He directed the police officers to resolve the problems of the citizens as soon as possible and ensure the provision of justice.
He said that providing justice and facilities to the citizens is a top priority of the police for which all resources are being utilised. He reiterated that the police will ensure the resolution of the problems of the citizens at the police station level in every way. He urged the public not to support any illegal activity, and identify the criminals, helping the police to make Murree completely free from crimes.
