4 senior TTP commanders killed in Afghanistan
Four senior commanders of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorist umbrella organization, including Malakand Division Naib Ameer Rahimullah, aka Shahid Umer Bajauri, were killed in the Kunar province of Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Sources told The Express Tribune that the four were invited to a feast in the area, and to hold meetings with local TTP personnel. However, they were ambushed at the mentioned location.
The eliminated senior commanders included Rahimullah, aka Shahid Umer Bajauri, Commander Tariq Bajauri, Commander Adnan Bajauri, and Commander Khaksar, the sources added.
The Pakistan government had also listed Rahimullah as a senior TTP commander and announced a bounty of Rs10 million on the terrorist's head.
Many members of the senior TTP leadership have been killed in ambushes in Afghanistan, including members of Jammatul Ahrar.
Up till now, 150 TTP personnel have been killed on Afghan soil, sources state.
At the same time, no terror group has taken responsibility for this particular high-profile attack in Kunar. However, sources believe that the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), which has a strong presence in the province, may be responsible for the ambush.
