Vikrant Massey responds to retirement rumours: 'I'm not quitting acting'

'12th fail' star clarifies his social media post, stating his hiatus from movies is temporary

Vikrant Massey, star of 12th Fail, clarified on Tuesday that his social media post about taking a hiatus from movies is a temporary break to focus on his family and health, and should not be seen as a retirement.

In an interview to an Indian news outlet, the actor clarified he owes everything to acting but needs some time away from the spotlight.

“I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health are also acting up… People misread it,” Vikrant explained. He stated that acting is his passion, and he has no intention of quitting the industry but felt the need for a pause due to mental and physical exhaustion.

The actor further shared in a statement, “Acting is all I can do. And it has given me everything I have. My physical and mental health has taken a hit. I just want to take some time off, want to better my craft. I feel a sense of monotony at the moment. My post has been misinterpreted. That I am quitting or retiring from acting. I want to take some time off to focus on my family and health. I will be back when the time feels right.”

The actor posted on Instagram late on Monday, announcing his decision to "recalibrate" and spend more time at home with his loved ones. He explained that he wanted to fulfill his duties as a husband, father, and son, sharing that he would take a break after completing his two upcoming films.

In his emotional post, Vikrant wrote, “Hello, The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realize it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted.”

This announcement followed the release of The Sabarmati Report. Vikrant attended a special screening of the film in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other ministers at the Balyogi Auditorium where he described the experience of watching the film with the PM as "the highest point" in his career.

When asked about his break during the screening, Vikrant refrained from elaborating further, leaving fans and media wondering about his future plans. However, his clarification on social media now assures fans that this is just a temporary hiatus.
