PlayStation revives classic boot screen with PS5 30th Anniversary themes

Sony celebrates 30 years of PlayStation with nostalgic boot screen & major anniversary sale on PS5.

To celebrate 30 years of PlayStation, Sony is offering a nostalgic treat for gamers. As part of the anniversary celebration, PS5 users can now customise their consoles with themes from each of the previous PlayStation generations.

The highlight of the update is the return of the iconic original PlayStation (PS1) boot screen, which many long-time fans will remember fondly from the console’s launch in 1994.

Players can choose from various themes, including those from the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, as well as a special 30th Anniversary theme. While the PS1 boot screen is expected to be the star of the show, PS2 fans may also gravitate toward the familiar and beloved PS2 theme.

In addition to the new UI customization options, Sony has launched the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Sale, offering major discounts on both games and hardware. The sale, which runs until December 20th, features a wide selection of top titles, including Gran Turismo 7, The Last of Us Part II, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, and many more.

Fans can also find discounts on PlayStation hardware and accessories directly from Sony’s official website, though availability may vary by region. A special video celebrating PlayStation's 30-year history has been shared, thanking players for their loyalty and support.
