Sindh province has been officially certified as free from maternal and neonatal tetanus, marking a significant achievement in Pakistan's health system. This milestone was announced during a debriefing session in Karachi, attended by prominent health officials and global experts.
A verification mission led by Dr Nasir Yousuf from WHO Headquarters confirmed the elimination of neonatal tetanus in Sindh. This achievement is attributed to the tireless efforts of provincial and national health authorities, development partners, and health workers.
To sustain this success, Project Director EPI emphasised the need for improved vaccination drives.
