PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa treasury members criticised the federal government over the violence in Islamabad on November 26, vowing to "never forgot" the incident.

They asserted that they cannot be intimidated and vowed to return to Islamabad to demand the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Founder Imran Khan. "We need answers: why were shots fired, who fired them, and on whose orders?"

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session on Monday included a heated discussion about the violence against PTI workers during the Islamabad protest. Government members Shafiullah Jan, Malik Liaqat (Special Assistant), Johar Marwat, Mehboob Sher, Shafiullah Khan, Meena Khan Afridi, Dawood Shah, and Abdul Ghani participated in the debate.

The members emphasised that PTI's protest on November 24 was peaceful. The PTI-led government members said that violence was used against their workers. For the first time in history, peaceful protesters were shot at, they said.

The treasury members added that not a single flowerpot was damaged when they reached D Chowk. "Our workers are still missing, and lists of the missing have been prepared," one of the PTI leaders said. They warned the government to reconsider its stance, asserting that depriving people of the right to peaceful protest could provoke violent responses.

The former ruling party in the Centre warned of returning to Islamabad for their leader's release. It also warned that if anything happens to their chairman or workers, party members will dismantle the system. Even Pharaohs couldn't save their thrones through oppression," one of the treasury MPAs said.

The members demanded that the martyrs of the protest be honored with civil awards and medals, insisting that government officials responsible for the violence be held accountable.

"The government created an impression that we were attacking D-Chowk, but the violence against our workers went unnoticed. If the foot of a camel is injured, it's visible to all, yet no one sees the atrocities against us."
