For those who cannot get enough of the British royals, a new German documentary about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle titled Prince Harry – The Lost Prince is set to hit television screens on December 3, reported the Daily Mail. Unlike their landmark 2020 Netflix docuseries, however, the upcoming feature has not been sanctioned by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In another twist, the documentary will also only be available on German screens.

As per the publication, Prince Harry – The Lost Prince has been directed by award-winning German filmmaker Ulrike Grunewald, and will explore the Sussexes' life in Montecito, California, where they have been based with their children since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, also known as 'Megxit'. In addition to Harry's rift with his family, the film will also examine seismic shifts within the monarchy, including the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and health issues faced by King Charles III and the Princess of Wales. Harbouring an interest in the British royals, Grunewald has also directed Die Windsors (The Windsors) (2009) and Prinzessin Dianas gefährliches Erbe (Princess Diana's Dangerous Legacy) (2021).

"The worst accusations always come from their own circle," remarked Grunewald about the British monarchy as part of her investigation. "Revelations that shocked the royal family came directly from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.'

Harry and Meghan last visited Germany in 2023 to host the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Harry's initiative to rehabilitate international wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women. Reports at the time suggested that the couple's tour of Germany was a success, although back when the couple made their royal exit, German newspapers were critical of their stance. At the time, Die Welt newspaper reported: 'The withdrawal of Harry and Meghan is a slap in the face of the monarchy and its supporters.' However, after the couple's successful tour of the country last year, it remains to be seen how the documentary will be received by the German public.

Despite no longer taking part in royal duties, Harry and Megan continue to remain active in the charity sector and the public eye. Harry was recently seen in Canada on November 17 to promote the upcoming Invictus Games, which are set to take place in Vancouver and Whistler from February 8 to 16. Meanwhile, Meghan hosted a dinner in Los Angeles for Afghan women who have settled in the US earlier this month.
