Tony White is set to leave Nebraska for Florida State, where he is expected to take over as the Seminoles' defensive coordinator.
This move comes after Florida State parted ways with former DC Adam Fuller, who was fired following a dismal 1-9 start to the 2024 season, according to WarChant.com.
White, who joined Nebraska with head coach Matt Rhule, has served as the Huskers' associate head coach and defensive coordinator for the past two seasons. Despite interest from other programs last offseason, he chose to remain at Nebraska, signing a restructured contract worth $1.6 million per year.
Under White’s leadership, Nebraska’s defense significantly improved, particularly in stopping the run. In 2023, the Huskers allowed just 92.9 rushing yards per game, their best mark since 1999, and a total of 303.5 yards per game—the best defensive performance for Nebraska since 2009. This strong play continued in 2024, with the Huskers allowing only 105.8 rushing yards and 315.4 total yards per game.
Before his time at Nebraska, White served as the defensive coordinator at Syracuse and held coaching positions at Arizona State, San Diego State, New Mexico, and UCLA, where he played linebacker from 1997 to 2000.
