Hollywood screenwriter C. Jay Cox claims false accusations during Vitaly’s predator-hunting livestream

Hollywood screenwriter C. Jay Cox has filed a lawsuit against Kick streamer Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, alleging false accusations during a November 16, 2024, episode of Vitaly's livestream series, Catching A Predator. Cox, 62, claims the encounter depicted in the stream was consensual between two adults, contrary to accusations that he engaged in inappropriate behavior with a minor.

In a November 30 Instagram post, Cox stated, "I was the victim of a brutal scam that accused me of pedophilia." He accused Vitaly’s team of falsely framing him by claiming the other party in the encounter was a minor after the livestream. Cox provided screenshots and social media evidence to support his narrative, emphasizing there was no illegal behavior on his part.

The lawsuit comes amid Vitaly’s ban from Kick on November 28, 2024, reportedly following an incident during another livestream where a suspected predator exposed themselves. The platform now displays a "404 error" message when attempting to access Vitaly's channel, a standard indication of a ban. This adds to a growing list of controversies tied to Vitaly’s predator-hunting series, which has faced criticism for sensationalism and ethical concerns.

Cox’s lawsuit underscores the risks of online vigilantism, particularly the damage caused by false accusations. While some argue that such content raises awareness about predatory behavior, others contend it prioritizes shock value over accountability and due process.

This legal battle not only questions the methods employed in Vitaly’s content but also highlights the broader responsibilities of content creators in handling sensitive issues. As the case develops, it could serve as a pivotal moment in defining the boundaries of online entertainment and activism.
