A fire spread from a gas stove in a room, resulting in the death of a couple and their two children due to severe burns on Saturday.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif sought a report from the Multan commissioner and Vehari deputy commissioner.
The fire broke out in the house of Danish Zulfiqar, a resident of Fareed Town in Burewala. His wife had reportedly heated milk for her young children, Ayan and Farhan Abbas, on the stove and forgotten to turn it off.
Fire spread suddenly from the stove in the room during the night, which engulfed the beds and other furnishings.
The fire was so intense that the family members, who were sleeping, could not escape. Danish, his one-and-a-half-year-old son Ayan Abbas and six-month-old Farhan Abbas were burned alive.
His wife also suffered severe burn injuries. She was rushed to a hospital by Rescue 1122 and locals, but she succumbed to her injuries.
The incident resulted in the loss of all four family members.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her condolences and deep sympathy with the heirs.
She ordered the deputy commissioner of Vehari to submit a detailed report and instructed the relevant authorities to ensure a ban on substandard gas cylinders.
The funeral prayers for the deceased were offered and they were laid to rest at the Shahr Wala cemetery amid an outpouring of grief in the area.
