We will stand with anyone for peace, said Senator and ANP leader Aimal Wali Khan, highlighting the grief among the Pashtun community over the Kurram incidents.
He added that imposing Governor's Rule in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is not a solution to the ongoing crises.
Speaking alongside K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at Wali Bagh, Aimal extended an invitation to all parties, including the chief minister, for an All-Parties Conference (APC) on peace.
"Today, both my district and the CM's district are surrounded by terrorists," remarked the governor.
During their meeting, detailed discussions took place on terrorism and the Kurram incidents. Aimal Wali Khan emphasised the longstanding ideological alignment between the Awami National Party (ANP) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
"We have stood together for years." Both leaders condemned the provincial government's focus on political agitation in Islamabad while neglecting the worsening law and order situation in the province.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi clarified that no consultation regarding the imposition of Governor's Rule in KP had been held with him, adding that he had only heard about it on television.
"The province is ablaze, and people are being martyred. The federal government cannot leave K-P at the mercy of terrorists," he asserted.
The leaders criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its undemocratic behavior, supporting calls to ban the party. "The events of May 9 and November 24 provide sufficient justification for a ban. PTI has been a disruptive force in the province for years."
Both leaders called for the implementation of the National Action Plan to restore peace, expressing concern about the preparation for another war that could devastate KP and Balochistan.
"State institutions must act responsibly," they warned. They reiterated that peace could only be achieved through collective efforts, not through "Band-Aid" solutions like Governor's Rule.
"We support any initiative for peace and stability, and ANP has consistently stood with the people in times of crisis," Aimal concluded.
