Magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolts parts of K-P

Tremors from earthquake were felt in Peshawar and surrounding areas.

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck several areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), with tremors also felt in Peshawar and its surrounding regions.

According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 212 kilometres, with its epicenter located near the border area between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage. However, residents of Peshawar, Malakand, Batkhela and Lower Dir experienced tremors.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, though the tremors have subsided.

Two weeks ago, tremors were felt in Mingora and surrounding areas in K-P with an initial reported magnitude of 4.1 and a depth of 213 kilometres.

The earthquake's epicentre was located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan region, with a depth of 213 kilometres beneath the Earth's surface.

The tremors, which were recorded at a magnitude of 4.1, caused people in the affected areas to rush out of buildings and shops. However, no damage or casualties have been reported so far.
