A grand tribal jirga in Balochistan's Pishin district, gathering key provincial and military leadership, tribal elders, women, and local residents to address regional challenges and discuss strategies for peace.
Prominent attendees included Governor Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Commander Balochistan Corps Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, IG FC (North) Abid Mazhar, senior civil and military officials, tribal elders and representatives from diverse sectors of society, including women.
During the jirga, participants met with representatives of various communities to discuss their grievances and sought solutions for the area's pressing issues.
Addressing the jirga, the Balochistan governor said that the event aimed to bridge the gap between the public and authorities. "The purpose of this peace jirga is to hear the people's problems and ensure their swift resolution," he added.
CM Bugti stressed the importance of jirgas as a tool to restore peace in the province. "We aim to bring Balochistan toward peace through dialogue. Where the use of force is necessary, it will be applied. However, where negotiations can help, we will prioritise discussions," he said.
Commander Balochistan Corps Lt. Gen. Rahat Naseem asserted the armed forces' unwavering commitment to defending the nation. "We are wholeheartedly dedicated to protecting every inch of our motherland."
Tribal elders expressed their appreciation for law enforcement agencies' role in maintaining order and pledged full cooperation with the government and military to sustain peace in the region.
The local leaders reaffirmed their trust in the government and the Pakistan armed forces. They commended the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders and expressed hope for continued progress toward regional stability.
