Polio case reported in DI Khan

PESHAWAR:

A polio case has been reported in a child from Dera Ismail Khan District. This year, DI Khan has recorded the highest number of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With this new case, the total number of polio cases in the country has reached 56.

According to the Health Department, a 27-month-old child from Union Council Murgha, Tehsil Darzinda, DI Khan, developed a fever on November 6. When the parents took the child to a doctor, they noticed weakness in the lower part of the child's right leg the same day.

Subsequently, the doctor categorised the case as Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) and referred it to the Surveillance Officer.
