Stone, 66, shared her thoughts during a panel on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, urging greater scrutiny of leadership. "We have to stop and think about who we choose for government," she said, hinting at President-elect Trump. She contrasted the U.S. to Italy, which has faced fascism, saying Americans lack the historical perspective to recognize the risks.

She criticized the 80% of Americans without passports for their lack of global awareness and emphasized the dangers posed by "bad men." Stone urged men to confront their peers’ behavior, warning against ignoring abusive tendencies. "Good men must be very aware that a lot of their friends are not good men," she said, advocating accountability to protect women.

Her comments echoed Alec Baldwin, who also criticized the U.S. during the festival, lamenting that Americans are "very uninformed about reality." Baldwin highlighted the role of the film industry in bridging informational gaps on global issues like climate change and Ukraine.
