Karachi's business community has unveiled plans for the launch of a new airline, 'Air Karachi,' with the company already registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Express News reported.
Hanif Goher, former Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), shared the details during a media briefing.
He confirmed that the federal government has been sent a request for a licence for the new airline, and that in the first phase, three aircrafts will be leased for the airline's operations. "The licence for 'Air Karachi' is expected to be granted in the coming days," Goher said.
He also announced that Air Vice Marshal Imran, Southern Commander, has been appointed as the CEO of the airline while notable businessmen, including Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, and SM Tanveer will be shareholders in the company.
Additionally, Bashir Jan Mohammad, Khalid Towab, Zubair Tufail, and Hamza Tabani are also listed as stakeholders in the airline. 'Air Karachi' is set to begin operations with an investment of Rs5 billion, with each shareholder contributing Rs50 million.
