Recently, Khalid found himself embroiled in controversy after accusations were made against him by his ex-boyfriend, Hugo D Almonte, an aspiring singer, on X. Almonte accused the "Heatstroke" singer of drug use, domestic violence, and engaging with sex workers.

Khalid quickly responded to these allegations with a video posted on X and Instagram stories on November 25, 2024, where he stated: “I feel like it is important for me to speak my side of the situation... I’ve never done cocaine a day in my life. I don’t place myself in those scenarios. I’m not in those surroundings. I smoke weed and I drink [alcohol] a little bit. But I’ve never done cocaine a day in my life. For real. Let's talk about this escorting thing. I've never paid for s*x a day in my life. Ever.”

The singer revealed that he and Hugo had been in a relationship about four to five years ago. He expressed shock when his ex-boyfriend posted a picture of them together, a post that has since been deleted.

Khalid responded to the rumors regarding his sexuality by sharing a pride flag on X with the message: “There yall go. next topic please lol.”

As Almonte continued to make multiple claims about him, Khalid clarified the status of their relationship, stating that it had been years since they dated.

In his video, he explained: “The last time I talked to this guy was 4 years ago. This is all random. I don’t know why he did it. I don’t know what’s wrong with him. Mental health is real. But, I haven’t even had a conversation or seen this dude in 4 years.”

Khalid also expressed that the accusations were emotionally distressing for him, admitting that the claims were "triggering" and left him feeling disturbed.

He remarked: “It’s triggering seeing a few comments [of] people painting me as if I’m some manipulative abuser. It’s just crazy to me."
