ADB hails Punjab climate policy

The chief minister appreciated financial and technical support of the ADB in various projects in Punjab.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Dr Emma Xiaoqin Fan has expressed keenness to ex-pand cooperation with Pakistan, especially Punjab.

"Punjab's climate policy will prove to be beneficial for the environment and national economy," the ADB official said during a meeting with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Matters pertaining to Jalalpur Irrigation Project and clean energy came under discussion during the meeting.

The chief minister appreciated financial and technical support of the ADB in various projects in Punjab. "ADB's cooperation is playing a pivotal role for prosperity of the people and restoration of national economy," she added.

She said, "The Punjab government is moving forward under a comprehensive plan to attain socio-economic development. Collaboration with the Asian Development Bank will further strengthen de-velopment objectives in Punjab." Dr Emma Xiaoqin Fan also appreciated steps being taken by the Punjab government for women em-powerment and other public welfare initiatives.

The leaders discussed ongoing development projects, strengthening of economy, cooperation for im-proving basic infrastructure along with enhancing cooperation in agriculture, health, education, envi-ronment and digital development.
