Kate Nash, widely recognized for her 2007 hit Foundations, revealed she’s turned to OnlyFans to financially support her music career. In a bold move, Nash stated she earns more from selling revealing but non-explicit photos on the platform than from her live tours. With the slogan “Butts for tour buses,” the artist explained that increasing touring costs and stagnant wages have made live performances a financial loss for many musicians.
Nash, currently on her UK and European tour, shared, “I’m losing money from those tours. Touring has become a passion project, not a job.” Refusing to cut corners or compromise the quality of her shows, Nash has embraced OnlyFans as a solution, calling it a form of empowerment.
Nash also criticized the music industry's systemic flaws, citing a lack of wage growth for artists despite rising ticket prices. She referenced other artists, including Lily Allen, who have also turned to OnlyFans for additional income. Highlighting a survey by Pirate, she noted that most musicians haven’t seen a pay increase in years, making it harder for working-class talent to sustain their careers.
Drawing parallels with the empowerment model of sex workers, Nash emphasized, “Art is valuable, yet we’re happy to devalue it. Maybe we can learn from the control and empowerment seen in other industries.”
