Comedian and actor Sohail Ahmed recently spoke about Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s admiration for the legendary Pakistani qawwali artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, sharing details of his reverence for Nusrat’s artistry.
In a media talk, Sohail Ahmed revealed that whenever Nusrat’s name came up, Dosanjh spoke about him with utmost respect, often remarking, “I’ve never seen an artist like him; he was truly out of this world.” Dosanjh also expressed his belief that Nusrat’s music and poetry have left a lasting impact globally.
Sohail Ahmed further noted that many Indian artists deeply respect Pakistani poetry and culture, appreciating the talent of Pakistan’s singers, actors, and musicians.
He added a call for Pakistan to cherish its artists without needing international validation, citing Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as an example of a local icon who had an immense following even while performing outside Lahore’s Data Darbar shrine.
Sohail Ahmed’s comments underscore the importance of valuing Pakistan’s cultural heritage and supporting its artists.
