Kidney Scam: Records sought on bail application

Indonesian citizen arrested along with some people accused of involvement in illegal kidney transplants.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Monday summoned the Camp Jail superintendent and the Services Hospital medical superintendent for September 16 on a bail petition of an Indonesian citizen arrested along with some people accused of involvement in illegal kidney transplants. Justice Abdus Sattar Asghar directed the respondents to bring the complete case record. Counsel for petitioner Muhammad Abdullah said that his client was receiving treatment at the Services Hospital and that his health was deteriorating. He requested the court to allow bail to his client on medical grounds. The judge adjourned the next hearing till September 16. The North Cantonment police had arrested seven men, including a surgeon, from a house near Allama Iqbal International Airport where the petitioner was supposed to receive a kidney transplant.
