Mobile phone and internet services have been disrupted in various areas of Karachi as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continues its protest in the city.
Residents in affected areas reported issues with mobile data and Wi-Fi services, with many experiencing slow or no connectivity.
The disruptions come as security measures are put in place to manage the ongoing demonstrations.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the suspension of mobile data and Wi-Fi services has been limited to areas with security concerns.
The ministry further clarified that internet and mobile services in other parts of the country would continue as usual.
The disruptions coincide with the PTI's protest in Islamabad, where the federal government has increased administrative measures.
The Islamabad administration has sealed off the city's entry and exit points, turning the capital into a virtual "container city," with heavy deployments of Rangers, police, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel to handle any potential unrest.
Previously, the federal government decided to implement a partial suspension of internet and mobile services in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab as a precautionary measure ahead of the PTI protest scheduled for November 24, reported Express News on Thursday.
PTI has called for a nationwide demonstration in Islamabad, with workers and leaders expected to join from across the country.
The government has already begun enforcing strict measures to control the situation.
In an effort to prevent PTI’s protest, containers have been deployed in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and Section 144 has been imposed in the twin cities
. Heavy security forces have been deployed, and local authorities are preparing to take further action to stop PTI from organizing a power show.
