2024 MAMA Awards: aespa, Jennie, SEVENTEEN, and more shine as K-pop’s best are honoured.

The 2024 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) celebrated the best of K-pop over three nights, with the star-studded event held at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre (November 21) and Osaka’s Kyoawea Dome (November 22-23).

Aespa led the nominations with eight, securing major wins in categories such as Visa Artist of the Year, Visa Song of the Year, and Visa Album of the Year. Jennie, the BLACKPINK star, followed with seven nominations, with her solo work earning accolades in Artist and Song of the Year categories.

Several prominent acts, including Girls' Generation's TAEYEON, SEVENTEEN, G(I)-DLE, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, and RIIZE, received multiple nominations across the prestigious categories at the MAMA Awards.

The awards event officially began on Thursday, November 21, in Los Angeles, with a press conference where US artists JY Park and RIIZE gave a preview of their upcoming performances. JY Park discussed his collaboration with Anderson.

Paak, hinting at an impromptu performance where he and his “favorite drummer” would focus on the spontaneous flow of the music.

Meanwhile, RIIZE revealed that their performance would pay tribute to Michael Jackson, with member Shotaro teasing a dance segment inspired by an "eclipse," involving himself and fellow member Wonbin.

Best New Male Artist
Nominees included several emerging groups and solo acts, with the top honor going to TWS.

Favorite Global Performer (Male)
The award for this category went to RIIZE, recognizing their international appeal.

Best New Female Artist
ILLIT won this category, beating out other rising talents.

JY Park was honored for his contributions to the music industry.

Ponta Pass Global Favorite Artist
The global favorite artist award went to TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

Favorite Rising Artist
MEOVV was recognised as a rising star in the K-pop scene.

Olive Young K-Beauty Star in Music
Lee Young Ji won this award for her impact in both music and beauty.

Best Male Group
The top honor for best male group was awarded to TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

Best Female Group
The award for best female group was claimed by aespa.

Best Male Artist
Jimin received the Best Male Artist award for his exceptional solo career.

Best Female Artist
JENNIE was named Best Female Artist for her impressive solo work.

Best Dance Performance by Male Solo
Jimin took home the award for his track "Who."

Best Dance Performance by Female Solo
JENNIE was honored for her performance of "You & Me."

Best Dance Performance by Male Group
TWS won Best Dance Performance for their track “Plot Twist.”

Best Dance Performance by Female Group
aespa won this category with their performance of "Supernova."

Best Vocal Performance by Solo Artist
IU was awarded Best Vocal Performance for her track “Love Wins All.”

Best Vocal Performance by Group
Red Velvet was named Best Vocal Group for their performance of "Cosmic."

Best Rap & Hip-Hop Performance
ZICO earned this award for his collaboration with JENNIE on "SPOT."

Best Band Performance
DAY6 took home the award for their performance of "Welcome to the Show."

Best Collaboration
ZICO and JENNIE were recognized for their collaboration on “SPOT!”

Best OST
TAEYEON received the Best OST award for "Dream" from Welcome to Samdal-ri.

Best Music Video
aespa won Best Music Video for their song "Armageddon."

Best Choreography
aespa was recognized for their choreography in "Supernova."

Visa Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Fans’ Choice of the Year
aespa, IVE, Jimin, JENNIE, Jung Kook, and NCT DREAM all took home top honors in these major categories.

Fans’ Choice Male/Female
The Fans' Choice awards were given to top artists, including Jimin and JENNIE for male and female categories.

The ceremony celebrated the immense global influence of K-pop, showcasing incredible talent across various genres and performances.
