City's varsities to welcome more G-B students: Murad

Assures GB CM of more seats in Karachi's medical, engineering universities

In addition to more than 10,000 students from Gilgit-Baltistan studying in the government universities in Karachi, the provincial government has assured of accommodating more from the region in the medical and engineering universities.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah gave the assurance in a meeting with G-B CM Haji Gulbar Khan at the Chief Minister's House on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Gilgit-Baltistan's Minister for Excise Haji Rehmat Khaliq and CM's Special Assistant Hussain Shah.

During the meeting, CM Gulbar requested an increase in the number of seats allocated for students from G-B in Sindh's medical and engineering colleges, highlighting that over 10,000 students from Gilgit-Baltistan are currently studying in Karachi. CM Murad assured that he would personally review the matter of increasing seats for Gilgit-Baltistan students in Sindh's universities, particularly the medical ones.

Gulbar said that the students of his region were facing accommodation issues. At this CM Murad promised that the PPP government would build hostel for them.

The Sindh CM said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had directed him to establish a National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in G-B.
