LAHORE:

Lahore High Court's Justice Ch. Muhammad Iqbal has sought replies from federal government, PTA and others on a plea challenging ban on VPN, social media and slow internet speed.

Petitioner Judicial Activism Panel (JCP) has filed this plea through Advocate Azhar Siddique contending that PTA has no authority to impose ban on VPN. He termed the government's act of imposing a ban on VPN and reducing internet speed as unlawful.

This ban is not only unconstitutional but also amounts to depriving the people of their basic rights, the plea said.

Raising concerns, the petitioner highlighted that students and those running their online businesses and people linked in anyway with internet were facing huge losses. He requested the court to lift ban on VPN and improve internet speed.
