Cop injured during raid

The RPO urged police officers and officials to wear bulletproof vests and work according to the code of conduct.

DIJKOT:

A police ASI was injured by armed suspects during a raid in Toba Tek Singh on Tuesday. Police said ASI Nasir, posted at Saddar Toba Tek Singh Police Station, raided Chand Batala area to arrest the proclaimed offenders, when the suspects opened fire. During the encounter, ASI Nasir was injured by a bullet on the chest and was taken to a hospital for immediate medical assistance, where his condition is said to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, RPO Faisalabad Dr Muhammad Abid Khan suspended SHO Saddar Toba Tek Singh Rana Akram for violating the standard operating procedures of a raid, which includes compulsory wearing of a bulletproof jacket by police personnel.

The RPO urged police officers and officials to wear bulletproof vests and work according to the code of conduct during the raid. He warned that strict action will be taken against the officers who are found guilty of negligence and carelessness.

The employees should remain alert at all times and perform their duties to ensure safety, he concluded.
