Queen Camilla mourns the loss of her beloved rescue dog Beth, a longtime royal companion

Queen Camilla announced the passing of her beloved dog Beth, a Jack Russell terrier adopted in 2011 from Battersea.

Queen Camilla and King Charles III announced on November 18 the death of their beloved Jack Russell terrier, Beth. The dog had been a cherished member of the royal household since being rescued from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2011, an organization for which Queen Camilla serves as a patron.

“A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from @Battersea Dogs and Cats Home,” read a post on Charles and Camilla’s official Instagram account. The message celebrated Beth’s role in their lives, adding, “She brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire.”

The post included heartfelt photos of Beth with the royal couple, highlighting moments such as Beth sniffing Charles’ nose and helping to unveil a plaque during an official event in 2020.

Beth and Bluebell, another rescue dog adopted in 2012, often accompanied Camilla to events supporting Battersea and even made history when embroidered onto Queen Camilla’s coronation gown in gold thread for the 2023 coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Beth and Bluebell also featured prominently in a 2020 portrait celebrating Charles and Camilla’s 15th wedding anniversary, taken at Clarence House during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This loss comes during a challenging time for the royal couple. King Charles, 76, is undergoing treatment for cancer while continuing his duties. Queen Camilla, 77, recently recovered from a chest infection that led to the cancellation of several engagements earlier this month. She resumed her duties on November 13 with a reception at Buckingham Palace.
