A three-year-old boy lost his life after falling into an open manhole at the premises of Lahore's Children's Hospital. The child, identified as Basim, was a resident of Chunian and had visited the hospital two days prior with his family.
While playing in the hospital's park, he accidentally fell into an uncovered manhole, leading to his untimely death. Police conducted proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the body to the grieving family. The parents termed the incident a tragic accident and refrained from pursuing legal action.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has sought a report from the administration of the Children's Hospital about a child's death because of an open manhole at the health facility. Following the instruction, the management of Children's Hospital Lahore formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
Paediatric Radiology Professor Abid Ali Qureshi will be the chairman of the committee, while Developmental Paediatrics Associate Professor Dr Ayesha Farid and Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Syed Ali Abuzar will be its members.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had taken strict notice of the death of a three-year-old boy who fell into an open manhole at the Children's Hospital.
