Elon Musk was seen laughing at his phone while seated next to President-elect Donald Trump, sparking a wave of reactions on social media. On Saturday, November 16, President-elect Trump attended UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden. Fresh off his historic political comeback, Trump was joined by close aide Elon Musk and others.

At the event, Trump, who received a thunderous ovation from the crowd, was seated next to Elon Musk, the future co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency. Viral clips showed Musk laughing while looking at his phone, until Trump pointed at something in front of the Tesla CEO.

X user @SawyerMerritt shared the clip, joking that Musk appeared to be scrolling through memes on X. Musk responded to the tweet the same day, saying: "I’m watching myself watch this 😂"

Social media users speculated about what Musk was laughing at, with one X user, @MUYK22, suggesting: "He saw Trump’s dance tutorial."

More memes followed as people tried to guess what had amused Musk. While some users waited for Musk to reveal the reason for his laughter, others speculated he was simply reacting to the cameras capturing him.

Saturday’s UFC 309 marked Trump’s first appearance at a UFC event since his election victory over Kamala Harris on Wednesday, November 6. The president-elect’s entrance was met with deafening applause, described as "thunderous" by the UFC broadcast team.

Trump attended the event with a high-profile entourage that included UFC president Dana White, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, Kid Rock, and Speaker Mike Johnson.
