Jon Jones handed his UFC heavyweight title belt to US President-elect Donald Trump after a stunning third-round TKO victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

The champion celebrated his successful title defence by imitating Trump’s iconic dance moves in front of the cheering crowd at Madison Square Garden.

The fight marked a dominant performance from Jones, who landed a brutal body kick in the third round, putting away Miocic and further solidifying his status in the sport.

The 37-year-old paid tribute to his opponent’s toughness, calling Miocic "The Terminator" for his resilience. "He’s really good, he's really tough and durable," Jones remarked. "I was hitting him with some decent shots, and he kept coming forward."

While Jones has been noncommittal about future plans, he hinted at a 2025 return and possible showdowns with top fighters, including interim champion Tom Aspinall and light-heavyweight champ Alex Pereira. "I’ve got some conversations with Dana [White] and Hunter [Campbell]," Jones said. "Hopefully, we’ll give fans what they want to see."

Trump’s presence at the event sparked energy among the fans, and Jones used the moment to praise the president, calling himself a “proud American champion.” After the fight, Jones thanked Trump and shared a handshake, honouring the leader with his belt in a symbolic gesture of support.

Following his loss, Miocic, 42, announced his retirement from the sport, concluding a career that saw him become one of the UFC's most successful heavyweights. He acknowledged Jones' talent and expressed gratitude for his time in the octagon, signing off with a legacy that includes a series of memorable fights.
