Murree holds mock drills ahead of snowfall season

The purpose of the mock drills was to provide access to citizens trapped in bad weather and snow.

A mock exercise was conducted by the district administration as part of preparation for the snowfall season, in which personnel from different departments including the Pakistan Army, district administration, Highway Mechanical Department, Rescue 1122, PDMA, Police, City Traffic Police, Forestry, Tourism and Health Departments participated.

The purpose of the mock drills was to provide access to citizens trapped in bad weather and snow, evacuation of affected persons to safe places, timely response to road traffic accidents, timely provision of rescue services to affected persons, road clearance, restoration of traffic during landslides and other important exercises included. The main objective was to assess the overall performance of all allied departments before the snowfall.

The drill included the use of heavy snow-clearing machinery, rescue ambulances, chemical spraying vehicles, fire tenders and other departmental vehicles. Mock exercises of practical help scenarios in various emergency accidents informed via telephone calls were carried out.

The Murree Deputy Commissioner checked the response time of agencies in mock accidents during the exercise.
