KARACHI:

A pistol, sealed and stamped as case property, dropped from the bag of two garbage collectors in New Karachi late night on Wednesday.

The residents of Sector 5D had found the two men roaming in the lanes late at night suspicious and stopped them.

Surrounded and outnumbered, the duo kept pleading that they were only rag pickers, but the crowd snatched their bag and overturned it. And a pistol fell to the ground.

After a good thrashing, the neighbourhood men handed the suspects to Bilal Colony police.

SHO Bilal Colony Waqar Qaiser told The Express Tribune that the 30-bore pistol recovered from the garbage collectors was a case property of the New Karachi investigation police. A case property is evidence related to a crime, it could be a weapon, car, bike or document.

SHO Qaiser said that initially, the in-charge of the New Karachi Investigation Police has said that he had told the two men to clean his office and they might have taken the pistol.
