Johnny Somali flaunts passport in defiance of South Korea’s ban

Banned streamer Johnny Somali waves emergency passport despite ban from leaving South Korea amid legal troubles.

Controversial streamer Johnny Somali, real name Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is facing a potential prison sentence in South Korea and has sparked further outrage by flaunting an emergency passport on TikTok. 

Somali, known for disruptive content and currently barred from leaving the country, posted a video on November 12, flipping off the camera while showcasing his new passport.

Somali initially gained notoriety in Japan, where he was fined for disruptive behavior, and later traveled to Israel, where he also faced backlash. Since arriving in South Korea, he has been charged with obstruction of business following an incident in a 7-Eleven, as well as investigated for alleged drug use—charges that could lead to a ten-year sentence.

His emergency passport reportedly replaces one confiscated in Israel over an unpaid hotel bill, though it’s unclear how he obtained it. Somali continues to assert his innocence, recently posting on Instagram that he is being unfairly targeted by Korean authorities, referring to himself as “the O.J. Simpson of Asia.” With court appearances likely ahead, his fate in South Korea remains uncertain.
