When Trump won the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton, the liberal media's favourite at the time, not only was Trump himself surprised but the anchors on leading liberal media such as CNN and others weren't fully prepared to talk because their talking points had been prepared for a scenario where Hillary was victorious. They had checked everything on their list except the facts on the ground where the American people had expressed their anger and executed a revenge against the Democratic party.
In the four years that followed, the liberal media never even slowed down for a single day in their relentless attacks on President Trump. I remember those days when much of the world still watched cable networks for their news consumption. America's leading self-proclaimed left of centre news channel CNN everyday and every night of those 4 years of Trump's presidency did absolutely nothing other than to criticise Trump. It was as though Trump could never do anything good and the Democrats weren't capable of doing anything wrong. The Covid-19 pandemic and the George Floyd murder fueled much of the liberal media's campaign against Trump.
The liberal media in those days had claimed to have hired special fact checkers in order to fact-check everything Trump said because it was no secret that Trump did indulge in some very outlandish claims, which had no roots in truth. The liberal media's favourite word during those years was misinformation. Trump labeled the liberal media as 'fake news' and the liberal media accused Trump of spreading misinformation and lies. Some of the leading journalists of the US liberal media published books and articles specifically dedicated to this issue. One of them named Brian Stelter even wrote a book titled Hoax.
Now let us look at the election of 2024 that happened just a few days ago. In the weeks and days leading up to the election, the liberal media kept telling the people that Kamala was leading in the polls and that the projected winner would be her instead of Trump. The closer we got to the election, the stronger their claim became. I confess; about 2 to 3 days before the election even I was worried that Kamala was perhaps going to beat Trump. They were arguing that their polls indicated that the young and other important demographics actually found resonance with Kamala and how it was one of the best decisions that the Democratic party had made to let that first black woman run instead of Biden because Kamala not only debated better on stage but also can pull enormous crowds toward the ballot.
None of that was true. Not only did Kamala lose, she lost bigly, to borrow Trump's style. Where are the fact checkers now? Where is the urge to investigate those claims made by the liberal media? Is "misinformation" still their favourite word?
Articles in the leading American newspapers are asking as to what went wrong and why Kamala lost. Major publications that were making the case for Kamala leading in the polls before the election are now trying to make the case that people do not respond honestly in surveys. When asked about who they'd vote for, people do not always respond honestly due to a variety of reasons. In other words, they are shifting the blame to the people. Instead of exercising honest journalism, a phrase they probably might mistake with alien language, they are blaming the American people for why there was a massive gap between the polls they advertised and what the actual outcome was.
Their relentless bias in favour of the Democratic party alienated not only the majority of the Americans who struggled with paying their bills during Biden's horrible first term, they also alienated the working class vote bank in not much different manner than how Clinton had driven them away by executing NAFTA. It's a bad day for hypocrites in America.
