Pakistan claimed the trophy at the inaugural Baseball United Arab Classic, crushing host team UAE 12-1 in the final on Sunday to complete an undefeated run through the tournament. The tournament, held at the Baseball United Ballpark at The Sevens in Dubai, saw nine nations compete.
Pakistan’s impressive journey to the top began with a resounding 10-0 win over Bangladesh, followed by a solid 10-3 victory against UAE in Dubai.
They then recorded consecutive wins over India (12-0) and Afghanistan (17-3), securing their place in the semi-finals. Pakistan’s Muhammad Hussain was named the tournament's MVP, acknowledging his standout performances.
In response to Pakistan's unexpected triumph, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi expressed his pride, noting that this victory in a sport not widely played in Pakistan highlighted the “determination, skill, and dedication of our athletes.”
He stressed that the win enhanced Pakistan’s sporting reputation on the global stage and looked forward to more such achievements in fostering sportsmanship between nations.
Baseball United Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO Kash Shaikh commended Pakistan’s performance, calling it "incredible" and acknowledged the team’s potential to compete with top baseball nations globally.
"Pakistan has shown they are not only one of Asia’s top teams but are on a path to play alongside the best baseball nations,” said Shaikh, celebrating the impressive achievement of Manager Syed Shah and his squad.
Established in 2022, Baseball United is the first professional league focused on promoting baseball across the Middle East and South Asia. Its founder, Shaikh, expressed hope for a bright future for the sport in the region, inspired by Pakistan’s victory.
The Pakistan Consulate in Dubai also shared in the celebration, with Consul General Hussain Muhammad and other officials present at the stadium to support the team and extend congratulations to the players and management for their dedication and success.
