The jury in Richard Allen's murder trial is set to resume deliberations at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Carroll County Courthouse, weighing two counts of murder and two counts of murder while kidnapping.
Allen, 52, stands accused of the murders of 14-year-old Abigail "Abby" Williams and 13-year-old Liberty "Libby" German, who disappeared on 13 February 2017 while hiking along the Monon High Bridge trail in Delphi, Indiana. Their bodies were discovered by search teams the following day in a wooded area nearby.
The jury began deliberations on Thursday afternoon following closing arguments and continued until shortly after 3:30 p.m. They resumed Friday morning at 9 a.m., deliberating until 4 p.m. but were unable to reach a verdict. On Saturday, they convened for several more hours, pushing total deliberation time to approximately 14 hours, yet still without a decision.
The Indianapolis Star and Lafayette Journal & Courier are closely monitoring the case and will provide updates on the jury's verdict and next steps in the trial.
