Football: Betis in La Liga third spot

MADRID: A last-gasp winner for promoted Real Betis propelled them to third spot in La Liga after a 1-0 win over Mallorca. Betis owed their success to a fine performance by Ruben Castro. On 42 minutes, he hit the post with a left footed shot from the edge of the area, and went close again with a right-footed drive on 56 minutes. Then, just as it seemed that Mallorca would escape with a point, Castro steered the ball home from a corner on 87 minutes to snatch victory.
