Florida-based rapper Jaydes, born Jayden Yen Dumont, was recently arrested on an attempted murder charge, with his mugshot quickly going viral across social media platforms.
In the image, the 18-year-old Broward County artist appears with a visibly bloody nose and squinted eyes, leading to widespread discussion online.
According to a post on Instagram, Jaydes allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend in early November after she rejected his advances. She accused him of using a box cutter and scissors to slash her neck and stab her arms and back.
Screenshots circulated on social media include alleged text conversations where she described the ordeal in detail, sharing, "I ran into his bathroom w[ith] my phone as soon as I got away and called 911."
Jaydes’ legal troubles come amid a controversial rise to fame in the trap music scene on SoundCloud, where he gained popularity through tracks like 'highschool', 'scam likely', and 'ghetto cupid'.
Raised in Pompano Beach by a Haitian father and Puerto Rican-Dominican mother, Jaydes was introduced to music at a young age, taking piano lessons and later producing beats during his early teens. His music, often centered on themes of school life, heartbreak, and cannabis, has been described as a unique blend of R&B, hip-hop, and electronica.
Reports also highlight additional controversies, with accusations that Jaydes misrepresented his age to underage girls on social media, further fueling public criticism.
Despite his musical success, the young rapper now faces serious accusations and legal consequences, casting uncertainty over his career. Jaydes has yet to release a public statement regarding the charges.
