The November 9 episode of Saturday Night Live delivered a comedic take on the recent 2024 presidential election results, introducing James Austin Johnson as a "hot jacked" Donald Trump and Dana Carvey as Elon Musk.
Opening with cast members feigning surprise over Trump’s re-election, Kenan Thompson, Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, and Bowen Yang humorously declared allegiance to Trump, with Yang claiming their “support never wavered.”
Johnson’s Trump entered sporting a leaner look with fake muscles, humorously declaring, “They finally got the body right.” SNL’s mock-endorsement escalated when Carvey appeared as Musk, donning a “Dark MAGA” hat and exclaiming, “I run the country now.” Carvey’s Musk playfully warned that while America is like his rockets, there’s a “slight chance it could blow up and everybody dies.”
The episode followed Kamala Harris’s guest spot with Maya Rudolph a week prior, amid NBC’s recent adherence to equal airtime rules. The satirical sketch ended with the cast singing a parody of "Y.M.C.A.," humorously celebrating Trump’s nonconsecutive second term.
