The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned Adiala Jail superintendent on Friday (today) in a contempt of court plea filed by the PTI leaders for preventing them from meeting party founder Imran Khan.
IHC Judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the contempt of court plea. Addressing the state counsel, the judge remarked why it happens time and again despite the court order, clarifying that if a petition is filed, the court will impose fine on the state.
Petitioners' lawyer Faisal Chaudhry asserted that the court had issued an order for facilitating meeting with the PTI founder as per jail rules but the party leaders, including Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub and Asad Qaiser, were not allowed to meet Imran Khan. He told the court that the PTI founder is not convicted in any case but he is an under trial prisoner.
The court inquired from the state counsel why visitors are not allowed to meet the PTI founder. The counsel replied that he would seek clarification from the jail officials in this regard.
The court directed the state counsel to look into the matter and summoned Adiala Jail superintendent to appear before the court.
