PESHAWAR:

National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub has stated that the current regime is incapable of meeting targets set by the IMF.

He also revealed that as the opposition leader, he had sent a congratulatory message to Donald Trump and emphasised that Pakistan wanted good relations with the US. He criticised the alleged lack of constitutionality and law in Pakistan, as well as the soaring inflation. He also stated that a case had been filed against him under the Foreign Act related to foreign citizens.

He expressed the PTI's intent to protest democratically. Furthermore, he claimed that the founder of PTI was not receiving the facilities he deserved in jail, and that Azam Swati had been wrongfully imprisoned again.

He also remarked that the government was not capable of meeting the targets set by the IMF, as they were planning to introduce a mini-budget, which he condemned.

He linked the inflation crisis to the IMF's unmet targets and further criticised the crackdown on PTI leaders, stating that their people were being arrested.

He concluded that the founder of PTI was not being provided proper facilities in jail and that they would continue their protest, which was their democratic right. Regarding the Army Act, he questioned the necessity of extending the tenure of the services chief, stating that this matter should have been discussed beforehand.

He also noted that he had opposed the issue of the constitutional bench in the Judicial Commission, emphasising that benches should be formed in a constitutional manner.

Earlier, a two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court, consisting of Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Waqar Ahmad, approved a one-month protective bail for the opposition leader in the National Assembly and PTI leader, Omar Ayub.

However, the court directed him to approach the Islamabad High Court and other relevant high courts for the details of his cases.

The court also directed him to approach the relevant high courts for the case details.
