The Clifton police have registered a case against unidentified armed men for killing a security guard - 43-year-old Muhammad Saeed - on his resistance during a robbery in DHA Phase V. The case has been registered on the complaint of security company's admin officer Muhammad Daniyal.
According to the complainant, he along with Saeed, had gone to a bank in Phase V on Wednesday to withdraw money.
He put Rs508,000 in his handbag and walked with Saeed to a nearby paan shop. Three men on two motorcycles suddenly appeared.
Two of them took out weapons and snatched the money bag on which Saeed also took out his pistol and challenged the robbers asking them to return the bag. The bandits opened direct fire on Saeed as a result one bullet hit in his chest. Robbers fled the scene in panic without the money bag. Saeed was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where he died during the treatment. Police are searching for the outlaws.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the dramatic incident of robbery involving a cashier has surfaced. The incident took place on November 4 outside a bank in Metroville, Site area, when bandits shot at and injured a cigarette company cashier in an attempt to snatch Rs1.5 million.
The footage shows that security guard Arshad Ullah's weapon malfunctioned while bank security guard is firing indiscriminately that also proved ineffective. During this exchange of fire, the cashier threw the money on the ground.
Despite the passage of four days, the accused are still at large.
