Five people, including four female schoolteachers were killed while six others were injured in road accident on the inter-provincial Dera Quetta Road on Thursday.
The collision occurred when a truck transporting vegetables from Balochistan to Dera Ghazi Khan collided with a school staff van.
Among the deceased were four female teachers and the principal of a private school. The accident took place near DG Khan Airport.
Authorities have attributed the crash to negligence and reckless driving. The deceased have been identified as Principal Syed Amjad Amin and teachers Kiran Bibi, Nosheen, Tahira and Gul Zareen.
The injured teachers - Aliza Bibi (22), Zahra Aslam (21), Manza Bibi (35), Naushaba (34), Afsheen (21), and Shahreen (21) - were shifted to the trauma centre at Teaching Hospital DG Khan, where two remain in critical condition. Witnesses reported that the truck driver fled the scene, prompting the Gadai police to launch an investigation.
A case has been registered, and the truck involved has been seized as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
